Great football weekend for Mr. Garger!

Today began with our catapult launch.  Fifth grade took off to the recess yard to check out some of our catapults.  In first place we had Stephen with a 40 foot 4 inch catapult blast!  Jacob and Thomas placed in second and third respectably.  Overall, everyone who made a catapult really went above and beyond in science!  Ask your child which variables were most important to catapult success.

After catapults we attended a robots assembly.

In the afternoon, we looked at what our narratives were "really" about by reading a mentor text and discovering its theme.  Tomorrow we will apply this same concept to our own writing pieces.

To end the day, we completed our closed reading of Wake Me Up When September Ends, read the chapter with the same title, and then responded to a question about the similarities of both texts that required text evidence and quotes to support their answer.
