In science we tested how the variable of height changes experiments. Two centimeter boats did not hold nearly as many pennies as 4 centimeter boats. Ask you child what that means about our variable that we changed today.
Math's target was to really make expanded form make sense. Please see yesterday's videos for help.
In writing we jumped inside the story to really SHOW what we were doing. Students picked their favorite list or draft and will be using that narrative idea for the rest of the marking period to create a high quality writing piece.
To wrap up the day, we looked at using text evidence to support answers to questions within a text. We connected this to book club homework and raised the bar for expectations. Here is a response that we created together for a question posed as we read Wonder. The expectation is that all students are able to write responses like this one by the end of this month. Restate the question, Answer the question, Include text evidence, Elaborate upon the text evidence and explain, Reread and check for clarity.
