Today was our first day of full time switching, which means we are back to the grind! Full teaching of each subject took center stage today as you can see in the targets below.
In science, we explored controlled experiments and gathered vocabulary for our pendulum experiments that will be conducted next week. Tomorrow we will run the control group of the experiment.
In math, Eureka, our new pilot math program took center stage. In this lesson, we looked at moving around the place value chart. Each movement of a digit to the left resulted in it getting 10 times larger. Each movement of a digit to the right made the digit 1/10 as large as it previously was. We will continue to work through this lesson tomorrow. Below is some homework help. Both are great tools for helping you to excel so please check them out!

In the afternoon, our RELA class took on complete sentences in grammar. We then brainstormed by creating lists based on different types of events in our lives. The more specific, detailed, and emotionally connected you are to the event- the better!
We wrapped up the day by discussing main idea and theme as it pertained to artwork, poems, and a song. Below is "Wonder" by Natalie Merchant. Preview the video tonight as you do your homework if you like! It will probably help you to annotate if you hear how she sings and pauses within the song. Tomorrow we begin our shared novel- Wonder.
