May 1st! Unreal how fast this year has flew by. This morning began with a GREEN SMOOTHIE MORNING MEETING! I took students through the steps of green smoothie making and how it has improved my life over the past two years. Ask your child about how it tasted! This year I seemed to get a very mixed, "YES WE LOVE IT!!!" or, "Its just not for me," vibe. Overall I am proud that everyone tried it. Health is a lifestyle not a fad.
For those wondering what my green smoothie recipe is:
1 handful of kale
1 handful of spinach
1/4 scoop of Strawberry BSN Syntha 6 protein powder
1 handful of frozen blueberries
1 handful of Dole frozen mixed fruit
Math continued to focus on algebra, linear equations and plotting lines based on algebraic expressions.
This afternoon we had some special guests from District Office come in and video tape our lesson based on using multiple texts to write a written response. They praised our class for their use of academic vocabulary, going back to the text, finding quotes, elaborating, and carrying on polite informative discussions. These LDCs have become very impressive and this class has really impressed me with how the tackle them! If I receive the video soon, I will post it as well.
Here is a link to the presentation I created on LDCs if you are interested in why we focusing so much on these this year: http://prezi.com/s1vkettcm38h/ldcs-reading-comprehension-and-the-written-response/
After an intense LDC revision session, we ended the day on a relaxing note with some Red Fern. Tonight there is a discussion questions on Chapter 7, please respond as a 4 opportunity! We had some great discussion on the last question. http://www.qcsd.org/site/default.aspx?PageID=9982
